Pioneering UX Design at BJC

As the first Product Designer brought into the emerging UX capability at BJC I worked with the Director of UX to lay the foundations of UX in the digital product area. This work included:

  • Establishing best practices and preferred tools

  • Creating an initial working agreement

  • Defining integration processes to strategically align UX to existing product teams

  • Creating the early stages of a design system

  • Establishing relationships with stakeholders and key people in numerous areas of the digital product division

Balancing Multiple Products and Quick Delivery

The early stages of establishing the UX capability involved fostering relationships across many areas of the organization, and showing how UX can help add value. I worked to consult and provide on-the-spot feedback, as well as taking on larger tasks such as creating (digital) enterprise-wide personas and high-level journey maps for several products. We worked hard to gain the trust of product leaders, stakeholders and team mates to quickly deliver UX contributions. Our work paid off and we slowly we began receiving requests to help with upcoming initiatives.

COVID-19 Microsite

To address the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, I collaborated with a small team to launch an updated microsite. Through competitive analysis of 20 major healthcare organizations, we developed a user-centric layout. We expedited the project by initially delivering low-fidelity wireframes, followed by higher fidelity mock-ups. The swift deployment of the new site significantly improved user success rates over the previous version.
